Fingerless Mitts - Pattern

It seems funny to me now that the project I designed on my most recent trip to Houston should be a wintry-inspired accessory. Especially since the comparative warmth of Houston over Boston practically bowled me over when I stepped off the plane.

When packing for a trip, I often come under this delusion that somehow while traveling I'll be 100000x as productive knitting-wise as I am at home, and I drag a suitcase half full of yarn along to my destination. On this particular trip I brought along eight or ten skeins of yarn and used...well, a fraction of two of them.

The little mitts that came about during the trip are made with Blue Sky Alpacas Metalico in 1611 Silver and Delicious Yarns Sweets Sport in Blueberry. This was the second project I made with Delicious Yarns Sweets Sport, and I'm definitely a big fan. After returning home I made a second pair for my best friend, this time using the Metalico in 1610 Opal (picture at the very bottom of the post) - I'm not sure which I like better!

Unfortunately, I don't have any really good close ups of the thumb gusset.  I worked all the stitch increases in silver, since it's the more neutral color, to keep the pattern as seamless as possible.

This last picture is the pair made with Metalico in 1610 Opal. Which colorway do you like better?
